How Should I Prepare for a Laser Skin Treatment?
Moxi is one of the only lasers you can be tanned for, but cannot have an active sunburn and must NOT have used sunless tanner in the area for 14 days prior. Do not wax or use depilatory creams on the treatment areas for 14 days prior to treatment.
Stop using products with active ingredients for 7 days before your treatment including Retinol (Retin-A, Tretinoin, Vitamin A), Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, AHAs (Alpha-hydroxy acids), LHAs (Lipo hydroxy acids) and Benzoyl Peroxide. Avoid hydroquinone for 3 days before your treatment.
Please come to your appointment with no make-up on.
What Can I Expect at a Moxi Laser Treatment?
After an initial consultation with our team, we will create a treatment plan addressing your skin concerns.
Depending on your treatment plan, we may apply a numbing cream to the treatment area about 20-30 minutes before treatment. Using the application of a gentle, non-ablative, fractionated wavelength, may feel a bit warm on your skin. Most clients feel little discomfort during treatment followed by heat afterward, however, we include your choice of a cooling spray or mask that will help with the discomfort.
The fractionated laser treatment will take about 10 minutes.
What Should I Expect After Laser Skin Treatment?
Cleanse treated skin twice a day with a gentle cleanser and water with a soft cloth and avoid rubbing or scrubbing. Keep the treated area moisturized using products recommended by your skincare specialist.
Makeup can be worn 24 hours after treatment.
Your skin may appear a bit red the day after treatment. Some clients may also see some small microdots where the laser was applied that can last 7-10 days. We call these “MENDS” which stand for microscopic epidermal necrotic debris. They may darken and feel rough as they heal but will slough off 7-10 days after treatment revealing new skin beneath.
Depending on your skin goals and your skincare regimen, we will make a recommendation for the number of treatments that will best help you reach your goals. Most clients will come in for 3-4 treatments and then regular maintenance after that.
You can expect to see noticeable results 7-10 days after your skin resurfacing treatment on your face. Other treatment areas, such as chest, neck, or other areas may take two weeks before seeing results.
